The inaugural Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce Awards took place on Thursday 9th July, at Staffordshire County Showground. This prestigious event celebrated the many success stories of the businesses throughout StokeOnTrent and Staffordshire.
Over 300 entries were submitted into the 11 awards categories, with a further award bestowed for Business of the Year, the ultimate accolade of the night, selected by the Sponsors.
KMF are extremely proud of Higher Apprentice Matt Page, who was recognised as Young Employee/Apprentice of the Year. Matt started his apprenticeship with KMF over seven years ago and has taken every opportunity available to him to excel and succeed. In 2013, Matt represented the UK at Worldskills in Leipzig. This highly influential competition could be compared to the 'Olympics of industry' and demonstrates his drive and commitment. Matt is now completing his degree and is utilising his skills to train other Apprentices at KMF as one of our Apprentice Training Mentors.
For KMF, the highpoint of the evening was to be announced as the winner of the Business of the Year category. KMF clinched the title and were thrilled to be recognised in this way. Gareth Higgins, Managing Director at KMF acknowledged the Award by saying, "We are delighted that KMF were named Business of the Year 2015. This is a great honour; to be viewed so highly when amongst an impressive array of businesses, is a privilege and I am truly delighted.
"We are also very pleased for Matt, he is an asset to the business and proof to me that the Apprenticeship program is the right choice for KMF, facilitating excellence and securing our future."
Feedback from the judges was most positive and it is believed that the ethos of KMF is what made this business stand out. "It is not all about profit with KMF, efforts are equally valiant to ensure the success of this business is shared amongst the local community. Overall, KMF was recognised for the way the business conducts itself. It is truly a 'role model' company" commented one of the Sponsor judges.
